Even though they are simply called as "IC cards", there are numerous kinds of IC chips.
As a professional smart card maker, E-Garde is working with the following systems to handle more IC chips than other makers and to maintain the quality.

What is smartcard!?

Smart cards (contactless IC cards) have the security much higher than conventional ID cards, and the memory bytes are large. Therefore, they are used in various fields.
If we focus on the history of ID cards, barcode cards which were popular in the beginning had a problem that data cannot be rewritten, so the applications were limited. After that, magnetic cards whose data can be rewritten were released, and the applications of ID cards became much more vairous.

However, in order to store billing information and/or personal information, the security of magnetic cards is low, and the memory was too small.
IC cards (contactless) are ones with which the problems have been solved and user-friendly. IC cards have overcome the problems improved usability further for the user.
There are various types of IC cards (contactless), so it is necessary to select the best one for a user.

Mifare

A Mifare card is equipped with the contactless IC chip manufactured by NXP. And it is the card most widely used in the world as a smart card.check here

A FeliCa card is equipped with the contactless IC chip manufactured by Sony, and used in a high security environment (e.g. Suica).check here

  • Icode card

    This one conforms to ISO 15693. There is no key security and few user memory bytes, but the type is called as the vicinity type whose communication distance is relatively long.

  • Tagit card

    This one conforms to ISO 15693. There is no key security, but the user memory bytes can be selected from several types. The IC chip is manufactured by Texas Instrumental.

  • Ntag card

    This one conforms to ISO 14443. Even though this one has the key security, the price is inexpensive. The user memory bytes can be selected from several types.

  • Hitag card

    This one is a 125 KHz LF band card. E-Garde can provide either Hitag 1 or Hitag 2. It is often used for access control.

  • EM card

    This one is a 125 KHz long wave band card. E-Garde can provide both rewritable type and read-only type. It is often used for access control.

  • UHF band card

    This is a 920 MHz UHF band card. The communication range is longer than HL/LF, and it is possible to realize a communication distance of around 4-5m. It is utilized for application for which a long communication distance is required (e.g. Access control of parking).

  • Combination card

    This is a card for which two kinds of IC chips (HF and LF) are combined in one card. The kinds of IC chips are selectable.

  • Paper smart card

    E-Garde has launched a paper-based smart card in 2017. This is an inexpensive IC card for which the high quality printing on a paper-based material is realized. And the flexible support is available because this one is made in Tokyo.

  • Reader / writer kit for smart card

    E-Garde provides a reader / writer kit that makes it easy to confirm an operation such as reading/writing of IC cards / IC tags in the HF band.
